US travel media experience Galway Pride during island of Ireland visit
Leading travel journalists and popular content creators from the United States have been visiting Galway, Mayo and Northern Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism NI.
The journalists and content creators – whose publications and online platforms have a reach of millions of people – were here to soak up the atmosphere of Galway Pride and to learn about some of the many great things on offer here for their readers and followers to see and do.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “We were delighted to invite this group of travel journalists and content creators to experience this year’s Galway Pride and see for themselves what we have to offer LGBTQIA+ holidaymakers. They also discovered some of our wonderful attractions and experiences, so we’re confident that the articles and content they create and share will inspire their readers and followers to visit in 2026 and beyond.”
As well as joining the Galway Pride parade, the group’s itinerary included Tribe Gin in Galway, walking with Irish Wolfhounds in Westport and baking with the Irish Soda Bread Way, also in Westport. In Northern Ireland, the group visited Finn Lough and the Ulster American Folk Park, enjoyed a walking tour in Derry-Londonderry and a Wild & Fired BBQ experience with Lo & Slow. Along the Causeway Coastal Route, they stopped off at Dunluce Castle, the Giant’s Causeway and Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge. Belfast Traditional Music Trail and a dining experience at Waterman House also featured on their programme.
