US travel journalists discover Ireland’s Great Outdoors
Five US travel writers and content creators – who represent various print and online publications and are all members of the Outdoor Writers Association of America – have been exploring Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The group’s action-packed itinerary, which focused on sustainable experiences and soft adventure, included a guided walking tour at Lough Boora Discovery Park, a guided mountain bike and hiking tour of the Slieve Bloom Mountains with Mid Ireland Adventure and a scenic cruise on Lough Derg with Derg Lake Tours. The group also enjoyed a sauna session with Ritual Sauna & Coffee, stand-up paddle boarding with UL Sport Adventure Centre, a guided walk in the Glen of Aherlow and a visit to the Rock of Cashel. In Dublin, their itinerary also included a 'Music Under the Bridges' kayaking tour on the River Liffey with City Kayaking.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland's Head of North America, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of influential writers and content creators from the United States to visit Ireland, to come and enjoy some of our superb outdoor activities and sustainable experiences. Through the articles and content they create and share, they will inspire their audiences to come and experience our wonderful outdoor activities and beautiful scenery for themselves.”
