TV cookery show to highlight Northern Ireland’s food, culture and scenery in Austria

A popular TV chef in Austria, called Silvia Schneider, is in Northern Ireland this week, filming for an episode of her TV show Silvia Kocht (meaning ‘Silvia Cooks’). The episode will air on the national Austrian TV network, ORF, in the lead-up to St Patrick’s Day next year, shining a spotlight on our food, culture and spectacular scenery. Filming is supported by Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI. Each half-hour episode of Silvia Kocht is watched by around 150,000 viewers across Austria.

Filming is taking place in Down and Armagh, at places like the Mourne Mountains, Downpatrick and The Saint Patrick Centre, Finnebrogue Woods, the Navan Centre & Fort and Armagh Cider Company. The crew also filmed at Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen in Killinchy, where Tracey showcased some of the local baking techniques for which we are renowned.

Aubrey Irwin, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Austria and Switzerland, said: "Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite Silvia Schneider to film in Northern Ireland for her TV show ‘Silvia Kocht’ and we look forward to the episode airing next year.

“Food and drink are an intrinsic element of any holiday experience. This popular show is watched by over 150,000 Austrians, so it’s a wonderful opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland – particularly our superb culinary experiences, rich culture and beautiful landscape – to a large audience and encourage them to book their trip to Northern Ireland in 2024.”
