Tourism Ireland sponsors The Travel Industry Awards 2023 in London

Tourism Ireland in Britain sponsored The Travel Industry Awards by TTG, which took place in Magazine London.

Tourism Ireland worked with the Guinness Storehouse and Tourism NI to create a fun Irish pub experience at the event. Virtual reality headsets took guests – virtually – to the Guinness Storehouse. The new NI Spirits Trail and The Boatyard Distillery were also highlighted to the over 1,000 British travel industry professionals attending the evening of networking and celebration.

Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to be a sponsor at this year’s Travel Industry Awards by TTG. Working with the travel trade remains an important element of Tourism Ireland’s overall programme of promotions in Britain. Our aim is to highlight the island of Ireland to the influential travel professionals attending the awards, to remind them what a great destination Ireland is and to encourage them to extend the Ireland content of their existing programmes and itineraries, or to include Ireland for the first time in their programmes.”

Gary Quate, Food and Drink Tourism Manager at Tourism NI, said: “Tourism NI was delighted to support this prestigious event, reminding our travel trade partners why Northern Ireland is a great place to visit. Great Britain is an extremely important market for Northern Ireland and we are using this opportunity to promote our world-class experiences, including The Boatyard Distillery in County Fermanagh. Joe McGirr, founder of The Boatyard Distillery, was supported by Tourism NI to attend, to showcase his range of organic and sustainable spirits and to promote the award-winning distillery experience on the banks of Lough Erne.”

Great Britain is a very important market for tourism to the island of Ireland, delivering around 42% of all overseas visitors. Before COVID-19, in 2019, we welcomed almost 4.8 million British visitors to the island of Ireland, whose visits generated around €1.45 billion in revenue.

Mary McGee, Tourism NI; Matt Roclawski, TTG Media; Breige Coward, Tourism Ireland; Gary Quate, Tourism NI; David Wood and Judith Cassidy, both Tourism Ireland; Ashleigh Davidson and Rhona Bergin, both Guinness Storehouse; Orla Carrigy and Hani Krizsany, both Tourism Ireland; and Joe McGirr, The Boatyard Distillery, at The Travel Industry Awards by TTG in London.
