Top international journalists get a taste of ‘Wednesday’s’ Ireland

Nine international journalists – representing a range of print and online publications including major outlets like Vanity Fair, Le Figaro, Metro and The Sun – visited Ireland recently, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

The journalists – from Britain, Germany, France, Spain, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Scandinavia – have a combined reach of around 15 million. They were here to celebrate and find out more about Ireland’s connection with the highly anticipated season two of Wednesday, which premiered on Netflix recently to audiences across the world.

During their time here, the group explored the atmospheric filming locations of the smash-hit Netflix series. The itinerary brought them to some of the show’s most recognisable backdrops, including Powerscourt Estate in County Wicklow (the waterfall, gardens and graveyard all feature in the new series) and Charleville Castle in County Offaly. They also visited the Swift Cultural Centre in Trim to learn about the upcoming Púca Festival and why Ireland is the true ‘Home of Halloween’, as well as Trinity College in Dublin.

Elmagh Killeen, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Brand and Marketing Communications, said:“To coincide with the premiere of season two of ‘Wednesday’, we invited this group of influential international journalists to come and explore some of the show’s filming locations for themselves. With a combined audience of around 15 million, their articles are sure to resonate with fans of the show, inspiring them to put Ireland firmly on their holiday ‘must visit’ list for 2025 and beyond.”
