Teeing up Ireland at important European golf tourism convention

Tourism Ireland’s drive to grow golf visitor numbers from Mainland Europe continued at the IAGTO European Convention in Málaga, in Spain, this week.

Twenty (20) golf and tourism operators from the island of Ireland joined Tourism Ireland at the convention – which was attended by influential golf and travel professionals from around the world. The event involved two days of one-to-one, pre-scheduled appointments and networking sessions, providing a valuable opportunity for the companies from Ireland to negotiate business for 2026 and beyond.

Aisling McDermott, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Global Partnerships, said: “The IAGTO European Golf Convention was a fantastic opportunity to highlight our world-class golf to influential golf travel professionals, negotiate new business and secure international golf visitors for the island of Ireland for 2026 and beyond. Our message is that Ireland offers international golfers the complete package – with some of the very best golf in the world, as well as spectacular scenery, fantastic experiences and warm hospitality.

“Our participation at this convention is just one element of Tourism Ireland’s busy promotional programme to inspire more international golfers to choose the island of Ireland. We’re also taking every opportunity to highlight the fact that Adare Manor will host the Ryder Cup next year and that the Walker Cup will take place in Lahinch and the Irish Open at Trump International Golf Links in Doonbeg this year.”

Tourism Ireland participated in the IAGTO Asian Convention in Pattaya, in Thailand, in March and will attend the North American Convention in Cancún, in Mexico, in June.
