Spanish travel journalists visit Cork
Highlighting new Aer Lingus flight from Santiago de Compostela to Cork to Spanish holidaymakers
Four travel journalists from Spain, representing various print and online publications, have been exploring Cork, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Aer Lingus.
The journalists – who have around 1 million readers – arrived on the new Aer Lingus flight from Santiago de Compostela to Cork. As well as highlighting ease of access for Spanish holidaymakers to Cork, the aim of this visit was to shine a spotlight on Cork’s superb tourism offering and the many great things to see and do, through the articles and content the visiting journalists will write and share.
Susan Bolger, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of travel journalists from Spain to visit Cork. There really is no better way to showcase Cork’s unique appeal than by experiencing it at first-hand. Through the articles and content they create and share, the journalists will inspire their audiences to come and experience Cork and Ireland for themselves.
“We are really pleased to support the new Aer Lingus service from Santiago de Compostela to Cork. As an island destination, we know there’s a proven direct correlation between access and growth in inbound tourism, so this new service will certainly help boost tourism business from northern Spain – supporting Tourism Ireland’s ambition to deliver step-change growth from Mainland Europe in 2026 and beyond.”
The group’s busy itinerary included a guided walking tour of Cork city with Visit Cork, a private guided tour of Franciscan Well Brewery and a Cork Harbour Greenway Cycle Tour with Beyond the Glass Adventure Tours, as well as a traditional music session with The Lee Sessions. The journalists also enjoyed a boat tour with Cork Harbour Boat Hire, a food tour with Kinsale Food Tours and guided tours of Blarney Castle & Gardens, Midleton Distillery and Titanic Experience Cobh.
