Northern Ireland wows Swiss travel journalists

2M+ people in Switzerland to read all about Northern Ireland

A group of Swiss travel journalists has been exploring Northern Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI. They were here to learn about our history, culture and scenery and, in turn, to showcase Northern Ireland and inspire their readers to come and follow in their footsteps.

The five journalists – who all write for leading national newspapers and a lifestyle magazine – have a combined audience of more than 2 million readers. During their time here, they visited Game of Thrones Studio Tour, Hillsborough Castle and Gardens, Titanic Belfast, as well as Belfast’s Linen and Cathedral Quarters. They travelled along the Causeway Coastal Route – stopping at Ballintoy village, Dunseverick Castle and the Giant’s Causeway. They also visited the Ulster American Folk Park, before continuing to Fermanagh, where they enjoyed a boat tour of Lough Erne.

Aubrey Irwin, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Austria and Switzerland, said:“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of influential Swiss travel journalists to come and discover some of the many things to see and do in Northern Ireland. Fact-finding visits like this are a really effective way for us to get positive exposure for Northern Ireland through the media in Switzerland. The articles and online stories these journalists will produce will reach an audience of more than 2 million people – or potential Swiss holidaymakers for Northern Ireland.”
