Italian travel agents discover Ireland’s Ancient East
Fourteen (14) travel agents from Italy have been visiting Ireland’s Ancient East, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The aim of the visit was to familiarise the travel agents with our superb tourism offering, so that when they return home, they will be better informed and more enthusiastic than ever about Ireland, and in particular Ireland’s Ancient East, when advising their clients about planning and booking their next holiday.
The travel agent’s busy itinerary included a visit to Jerpoint Glass Studio, St Canice’s Cathedral, Kilkenny Castle and Smithwick’s Experience Kilkenny. They also enjoyed guided tours of Dunbrody Famine Ship, The Irish National Heritage Park, Powerscourt Distillery and Glendalough Visitor Centre, as well as EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and Malahide Castle and Gardens.
Marcella Ercolini, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Italy, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of travel agents to visit Ireland’s Ancient East, to experience first-hand some of our superb tourism offering. Seeing is believing – and our aim is that when they return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland.”
