Irish chef Colin Fassnidge brings a taste of Ireland to Australian viewers

Top Australian TV show will highlight Irish culinary scene to 1.3M viewers

Ireland’s superb food scene and spectacular scenery are set to be beamed into homes across Australia, as the popular lifestyle show Better Homes and Gardens films here this week. The show, which airs on the Seven Network to an average audience of 1.3 million per episode, is presented by Irish-born, Sydney-based chef Colin Fassnidge. Filming is supported by Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.

Colin and his crew are filming in various locations in Wexford, Cork, Galway, Meath and Dublin. From tasting seaweed butter in Gorey to sampling traditional black pudding at Cork’s iconic English Market, Colin is shining a spotlight on our delicious Irish produce and the passionate people behind it. His filming schedule also includes a visit to Ballymaloe Cookery School, a guided food tour in Kinsale and oyster shucking at Kelly Oysters in Kilcolgan.

Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are delighted to welcome back the ‘Better Homes and Gardens’ team to Ireland and who better than Irish chef Colin Fassnidge to showcase our exceptional culinary scene. The segments filmed here, set against the backdrop of our stunning scenery, are due to air on the Seven Network next spring and are sure to inspire Australian food lovers to plan their own visit to Ireland.”

Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity, to inspire Australians to put Ireland on their holiday ‘must-visit’ list.
