Ireland’s world-class golf to the fore at BMW PGA Championship in Wentworth

Tourism Ireland has been attending the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth in south-east England over the weekend – promoting our world-class golf to the many golf enthusiasts attending. Five golf and tourism companies from the island of Ireland joined Tourism Ireland at this important event in the golfing calendar.

One of the DP World Tour’s biggest golf competitions, the BMW PGA Championship attracts some of the world’s top players, as well as thousands of spectators and international journalists each year – providing a fantastic platform to showcase our golf. Tourism Ireland also used the event to build excitement around the countdown to the 2027 Ryder Cup at Adare Manor, with just one year to go until the world's biggest golf event comes to Ireland.

Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland's Head of Great Britain, said:“Our presence at this year’s BMW PGA Championship was just one element of Tourism Ireland’s busy programme of promotions to encourage golfers in Great Britain to consider a holiday on the island of Ireland. Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and we are continuing to highlight everything that makes Ireland such a compelling destination for a golf break. From bucket-list links courses and lesser-known hidden gems, to our spectacular coastal scenery and warm hospitality, the island of Ireland offers golfers the complete package. With Adare Manor set to host the Ryder Cup in just one year's time, there has never been a better time to inspire golfers to start planning a trip."
