German travel journalists experience the ‘flavours’ of Northern Ireland
Inspiring over 5 million potential German holidaymakers to visit Northern Ireland
Seven travel journalists from Germany, representing daily newspapers, luxury travel magazines and radio shows, have been exploring Northern Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.
With a combined reach of over 5 million readers and listeners, the articles and content produced by these influential travel journalists will shine a spotlight on our superb food and drink tourism offering, inspiring potential German holidaymakers to book their next trip to Northern Ireland.
The group started with a tour of Killeavy Castle Estate, followed by seaweed foraging with Crawford’s Rock Seaweed, breadmaking at Tracey’s Farmhouse Kitchen, a visit to Titanic Belfast and a private tasting menu experience at Waterman House. They also enjoyed a visit to McConnell’s Distillery and a Taste & Tour food tour of Belfast.
On the Causeway Coast, they visited The Harbourview Hotel for a whiskey tasting experience and foodie guide Wendy Gallagher took the journalists to award-winning bread maker Thyme & Co, Broughgammon Farm and Lacada Brewery. A ‘Catch Your Breakfast’ boat tour with Causeway Boats completed the group’s culinary visit.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for DACH countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of German travel journalists to visit Northern Ireland, to experience our superb local produce and culinary experiences at first-hand. The articles and content these journalists will produce will inspire holidaymakers in Germany to come and discover Northern Ireland for themselves.”
