German business travel buyers explore Cork
Ten German Business Events travel buyers – all specialists in organising international meetings and incentive travel programmes – have been visiting Cork, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Horizons by TPG (destination management company).
The aim of the visit is to showcase Cork city and county to the influential German buyers, inspiring them to choose Ireland for future meetings and incentive travel – and ultimately to grow Business Events from Germany.
The action-packed itinerary included an e-bike tour around Cork Harbour, Cork City Gaol, a walking food tour in Kinsale and a harbour cruise in Cobh. Hederman Smoke House, Ballymaloe House and Midleton Distillery Experience also featured on their programme. The buyers also had the opportunity to visit the Cashel Palace Hotel and Kilkea Castle and to try their hand at Gaelic football and hurling.
David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Business Events and Luxury, said: “We were delighted to welcome these influential German business travel buyers to Cork, to experience for themselves the high standard of our tourism product, as well as the warm welcome that awaits their clients in Ireland. Their visit is a valuable opportunity to highlight Ireland as a premier destination for Business Events, with its winning combination of world-class infrastructure, unique and luxurious accommodation, state-of-the-art venues and spectacular landscapes.
“Business travel is high value and often midweek and off season by its nature, thereby aligning with Tourism Ireland’s strategy to grow overseas tourism revenue outside of the peak summer season.”
