Game of Thrones Studio Tour and Northern Ireland showcased on US television

Tourism Ireland invites popular American TV host to broadcast from Northern Ireland

Images of Northern Ireland and the Game of Thrones Studio Tour have been beamed into the homes of TV viewers across the United States.

Tourism Ireland invited respected TV host and editor of Travelzoo, Gabe Saglie, to film in Northern Ireland. He conducted interviews from the Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Banbridge – including an interview with Belfast-born actor and star of the HBO series, Ian McIlhenny, which subsequently aired on over 20 top TV outlets across the United States. The broadcasts included footage of Belfast and Londonderry and were seen on affiliate stations of top networks CBS, NBC, FOX and ABC.

Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to partner with Gabe Saglie and Travelzoo, to highlight the Game of Thrones Studio Tour and Northern Ireland to audiences across the United States. Publicity and broadcasts like this are a key element of Tourism Ireland’s programme of activity, to encourage travellers in the US to put Northern Ireland on their vacation ‘wish list’ for 2023 and beyond.”

The United States remains an extremely important market for tourism to Northern Ireland. In 2019, we welcomed 212,000 American visitors, whose visits delivered £61 million for the economy.
