Canadian travel agents explore the island of Ireland

Ten Canadian travel agents who work with TourRadar – a major adventure travel platform – are exploring the island of Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

The aim of the travel agents’ visit is to familiarise them with our superb tourism offering, so that when they return home, they will be better informed and more enthusiastic than ever when advising their clients about planning and booking their holidays in Ireland. The group’s itinerary began in Belfast with a visit to Titanic Belfast, a black taxi tour and a historic pub tour with Taste & Tour. GORTA – Swatragh’s Famine Story, a walking tour of the city walls in Derry-Londonderry, the Shirt Tales NI experience, Peacemakers Museum and a boat tour on Lough Erne with Erne Water Taxi also featured.

Then it was on to Leitrim for a visit to The Shed Distillery and Drumhierny Woodland Hideaway. The travel agents also stopped off at Cloughan Farm & Cookery School in Longford, before enjoying a walking tour of Kilkenny city. In Kildare, they visited the Irish National Stud & Gardens and Kildare Village. Finishing off their busy programme in Dublin, the group toured Kilmainham Gaol, EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum, Silver Works Dublin and The Little Museum of Dublin.

Sandra Moffatt, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Canada, said:“TourRadar is a valued partner for Tourism Ireland and we were delighted to invite their top-performing travel agents to visit the island of Ireland this week. Our aim is that when they return home, they will be better informed and more enthusiastic than ever about Ireland when advising their clients about planning and booking their next holiday.”

Canada is an important growth market for overseas tourism to the island of Ireland – now representing our fifth-largest source of overseas tourism revenue.
