Australian and New Zealand travel agents explore the island of Ireland

Eight travel agents from Australia and New Zealand have been visiting the island of Ireland, as guests of Tourism Ireland, Fáilte Ireland and Tourism Northern Ireland.

The aim of the visit is to familiarise the travel agents with our superb tourism offering – from our spectacular scenery and rich heritage to our warm hospitality – so that when they return home, they will be better informed and more enthusiastic than ever about Ireland, inspiring even more Australian and New Zealand holidaymakers to visit in 2027 and beyond.

The itinerary began in Northern Ireland, where the agents visited Game of Thrones Studio Tour, enjoyed a Belfast food tour with Taste & Tour and visited Titanic Belfast, The Gobbins Cliff Path and the Giant’s Causeway. In County Fermanagh, highlights included an Erne Water Taxi tour, visits to Boatyard Distillery and Lough Erne Resort, as well as a walk along the Cuilcagh Boardwalk Trail.

The group then travelled to Mayo for a Westport Food Tour, before continuing to Galway, where they visited DK Connemara Oysters, Kylemore Abbey, Ballynahinch Castle and the new luxury hotel The Hawthorn by Galway Bay. Other experiences included Galway’s popular ‘Stroll to the Stout’ tour and clay pigeon shooting at Ashford Castle. The journey concluded with a baking experience at Margaret’s Kitchen near Roscommon town, before a final stop in Dublin, where the agents visited EPIC The Irish Emigration Museum and enjoyed lunch with Vintage Tea Trips.

Sofia Hansson, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Australia and New Zealand, said:“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this group of Australian and New Zealand travel agents to visit Ireland, to experience first-hand some of our superb tourism offering. Seeing really is believing – our aim is that when they return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Ireland.”
