1.7 million Swiss to read all about Ireland’s superb culinary offering
Four journalists from Switzerland – with a combined audience of around 1.7 million across various print and online publications – are exploring Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
The journalists are following a bespoke itinerary with a strong emphasis on our superb food and drink offering. They flew directly to Cork on Edelweiss’ flight from Zurich, highlighting the ease of access to Cork and the South of Ireland for Swiss holidaymakers.
The journalists’ programme began with a Cork Tasting Trail, setting off from the iconic English Market, with Fab Food Trails. They continued to Kinsale, where they did a boat tour of Kinsale Harbour with Kinsale Wellness on Water and had dinner at Fishy Fishy. They visited Midleton Distillery Experience and Hederman Smoke House and enjoyed dinner at Ballymaloe House Hotel, as well as a private garden tour of Ballymaloe Cookery School.
The group also experienced the ‘350m Estate to Plate’ menu at The Stables Café at Mount Congreve and did a guided walk in the garden there. Then it was on to County Wicklow for a tour of Avoca Mill and to Dublin for a panoramic e-bike tour with Howth Adventures.
Nadine Lehmann, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for DACH countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland), said: “Seeing is believing, so we were delighted to invite this group of influential Swiss journalists to visit Ireland, to experience our superb local produce and culinary experiences at first-hand. The articles and content these journalists will produce and share will inspire holidaymakers in Switzerland to come and discover Ireland for themselves.”
