Northern Ireland ‘shines’ for GB travel professionals

Four top GB travel professionals have been discovering the Game of Thrones Studio Tour this week, during a fact-finding visit to Northern Ireland. The tour operators and an airline representative were invited here by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Tourism NI and Fáilte Ireland.

The aim of the visit is to familiarise the travel professionals with Northern Ireland and our superb tourism offering, to encourage them to feature the destination in their holiday and tour programmes. Their action-packed itinerary included Titanic Belfast and a tour of some of Belfast’s other well-known attractions, as well as our newest visitor experience, the Game of Thrones Studio Tour. The group also travelled to Fermanagh, where they enjoyed a tour of Lough Erne and a visit to Florence Court House and Estate.
 
Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said: “We were delighted to invite these travel professionals to visit Northern Ireland. Working with the travel trade is an important element of Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme in GB – so fact-finding visits for groups like this are really important. Our aim is that when they return home, they will be even more enthusiastic about the destination, helping to secure a greater share of their business for Northern Ireland in 2022 and beyond.

We are taking every opportunity to leverage the many good news stories about Northern Ireland tourism this year – including the opening of the new Game of Thrones Studio Tour, the designation of Belfast as a UNESCO City of Music, the 10th anniversary of Titanic Belfast and the fact that The Open will return to Royal Portrush in 2025. Our message is that Northern Ireland is open for business again and we cannot wait to welcome back visitors from GB and around the world.”
