Set in the stunning Burren and Cliffs of Moher UNESCO Global Geopark on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way, The Falls Hotel & Spa offers a winning combination of comfort, style, and sustainability. The County Clare hotel has been certified carbon neutral since 2021 and recently reached a green energy milestone, having generated 5 million kilowatt-hours of clean electricity through its on-site hydro-electric turbine.

The hotel’s position on the banks of the scenic River Inagh is ideal for harnessing the power of the cascading waters, which also provide spectacular views for guests. It recently installed 90 solar panels to further expand its use of renewable energy with the long-term ambition of becoming electrically self-sufficient. With multiple green awards already under its belt, The Falls Hotel & Spa is one of the most environmentally responsible hotels in Ireland.

The hotel has a long and fascinating history having begun life as a medieval castle. It was replaced by a Georgian-style building at the end of the 18th century, which passed through several families before being turned into a small hotel in 1936. Today’s extensive, modern 140-bedroom hotel has two restaurants and a banqueting room as well as a spa, giving guests everything they need for a relaxing eco-friendly break.

The Falls Hotel & Spa is a member of the Burren Eco-tourism Network, a group of tourism enterprises which has been working to establish the famous Burren region in County Clare as a premier sustainable tourism region. Earlier this year Clare became the first county in Ireland to be awarded Global Sustainable Tourism Council Destination Certification, meaning that it is recognised as a global leader in managing standards for sustainable travel and tourism. Working together, local government, communities and businesses have created exceptional visitor experiences that aim to safeguard the region’s social, cultural, economic, and environmental future.

The Falls Hotel & Spa is the perfect base for exploring the unique Burren landscape with its 330-million-year-old limestone pavements that are often described as lunar-like and otherworldly. The area has a remarkable range of flowers, many of which are only found in this area, as well as thousands of archaeological monuments dating back over millennia. Home to many artisan food producers, the Burren is also a magnet for foodies who come to enjoy the award-winning  food trails and experiences.

And, of course, the famous  Cliffs of Moher edge the dramatic County Clare coastline and are one of Ireland’s top visitor attractions. With spectacular views, a state-of-the-art visitor centre and breath-taking coastal walks, the cliffs are a must-see when exploring the area.
