Armada House Reborn on Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way

Armada House interior, County Clare
Armada House in Spanish Point, Co. Clare has officially reopened following a €2.5 million restoration, marking the completion of a three‑year transformation of the historic 19th‑century property.
Once a landlord’s home and later a convent boarding school, the 13‑bedroom house has been reimagined as a refined coastal retreat that blends contemporary Irish luxury with a strong sense of place.
Located just 70 metres from the Armada Hotel, the restored property allows guests to move seamlessly between both spaces. The interiors draw inspiration from the flora and fauna of The Burren, including sea pinks, lichens, heathers and dune greens, layered with deep Atlantic blues to create a calm, coastal palette. The redesign was led by Irish interior designer Suzie McAdam, whose vision brings together bold textures, handcrafted details and a deep connection to the West Clare landscape.
The refurbishment includes redesigned bedrooms and suites, upgraded communal areas and a series of new amenities. Featuring artworks by leading Irish artists, including Mick O’Dea, Geraldine O’Sullivan, Rosie Lynch and Katherine Halford Greene, the house has a distinctly Irish character. Wallpapers by Pierre Frey echo the textures of the surrounding coastline, while rich fabrics by Teyssier and Manuel Canovas complement Irish‑made bed linen. Guests can expect thoughtful touches on arrival, such as handcrafted Irish chocolates from Grá (the Irish word for ‘love’) and welcome drinks curated by the Armada Cocktail Lab.
