~ Tourism Ireland fills American hearts with the island of Ireland! ~
Tourism Ireland, together with a delegation of nine tourism companies from the island of Ireland, is undertaking a sales blitz to the US this week – meeting, and doing business with, hundreds of travel professionals in Dallas, Houston and Sarasota.
The schedule includes a B2B event in each city, with an interactive presentation showcasing the island of Ireland – giving the participating companies a platform to promote and sell their products and services to the key American decision-makers in attendance. There are also opportunities for networking with travel and lifestyle journalists and influencers in each city.
Tourism Ireland aims to surpass the performance of 2019 and to grow revenue from North American visitors by +4% in 2020 i.e. €1.96 billion generated by 2.13 million visitors (+4%). Tourism Ireland will prioritise North America once again in 2020, as a market which offers a strong return on investment, in terms of holiday visitors and expenditure.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “Our ‘Fill Your Heart With Ireland’ sales mission this week provides an excellent platform to highlight the many things to see and do, and all that is new and exciting, for a vacation on the island of Ireland in 2020.
“In 2019, we welcomed over 2 million North American visitors to the island of Ireland, delivering revenue of around €1.89 billion for the economy. Looking to the year ahead, we are confident that our strategy will deliver further growth. We will achieve this by working in close collaboration with our Irish and American tourism partners and by rolling out an extensive programme of high impact campaigns and promotions which will target those consumers with greatest potential to travel to the island of Ireland.”
Similar events will take place in Chicago, Minneapolis and Denver, in April; and on the west coast of the US in late 2020.
