Dutch bloggers ‘pass the baton’ along the Causeway Coast

~ Tourism Ireland invites online influencers to create engaging content to attract more Dutch holidaymakers ~

Two popular influencers from Amsterdam were exploring Northern Ireland recently. Their visit is part of Tourism Ireland’s ‘blogger relay’ initiative to attract more Dutch visitors to Northern Ireland and the island of Ireland.
The ‘blogger relay’, which kicked off earlier this summer, involves a programme of visits by popular Dutch bloggers and social influencers, designed to ensure an ongoing ‘buzz’ and conversation on social media in the Netherlands about the island of Ireland. The idea is that each visiting blogger ‘passes the baton’ to the next blogger, tagging them and sharing the same hashtags.
Last week, two food bloggers, called Roger Bloem (aka CityGuys) and Seger Abeis (aka Foodini), enjoyed a road trip around the Causeway Coastal Route and Belfast – showcasing their experiences to their combined online audience of over 140,000 followers, or potential holidaymakers for Northern Ireland, via their different social channels. Their action-packed itinerary was designed by Tourism NI and took them to places like Glenarm Castle, Ballintoy, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge, Titanic Belfast, the Ulster Museum and St George’s Market.
Roger and Seger will also share their experiences on their blogs over the coming weeks. 
Karen van der Horst, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for the Netherlands, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to continue our ‘blogger relay’ last week. Blogs and social media are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers, so Tourism Ireland was delighted to see Roger and Seger share their experiences with their fans and followers – inspiring them to come and visit Northern Ireland.
“In 2018, we welcomed almost 29,800 Dutch visitors to Northern Ireland. Tourism Ireland is undertaking another extensive programme of promotions throughout 2019, to highlight Northern Ireland in the Netherlands. Our ‘blogger relay’ and collaboration with popular Dutch influencers is just one element of our programme, aimed at boosting Dutch visitor numbers this year.”
