~ Millions around the world to read all about Northern Ireland’s great gardens ~
Garden enthusiasts around the world will soon be reading all about the gardens of Northern Ireland – following this week’s visit by some top international garden and lifestyle journalists. The journalists are here are guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.
The journalists – from Canada, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Austria and India – are here on a fact-finding visit, researching articles about Northern Ireland and our gardens, which will appear in a range of print and online publications which have a combined audience of more than 40 million readers.
The group’s busy itinerary includes the Palm House at the Botanic Gardens in Belfast, Antrim Castle Gardens, Ballyrobert Cottage Garden, Mount Stewart House and Gardens, as well as Castle Ward. They also enjoyed a guided tour of the garden at Montalto Estate, with head gardener Peter Harris, and a visit to Hillsborough Castle and Gardens.
“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential journalists to come and visit – helping us to spread the good news about Northern Ireland and our superb gardens through the international media,” said Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets. “I am confident that their visit will result in lots of positive publicity for Northern Ireland in a range of publications, encouraging travellers and garden enthusiasts to come and discover the destination for themselves.”
Tourism Ireland recently launched its £11 million, multi-media autumn campaign, to boost late-season travel to Northern Ireland from around the world. The September to December period usually yields as much as 30% of our annual overseas tourism business. The campaign is being rolled out in North America, Mainland Europe, GB, Australia and emerging tourism markets.
