600,000 Canadians to tune in to Northern Ireland

~ Tourism Ireland invites Canadian golf TV show and golf personalities to Northern Ireland ~

A popular Canadian golf TV show, called Golf Talk Canada, has been filming at various golf courses around Northern Ireland this week. They are here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.
The TV crew will produce a one-hour episode all about Northern Ireland, which will air later this year on TSN (The Sports Network) to around 600,000 viewers. They’ve been filming at some of our top golf courses, including Royal County Down, Ardglass, Castlerock, Portstewart and Royal Portrush.
Accompanying the show’s producer and host, Mark Zecchino, on this visit to Northern Ireland are two Canadian golf ‘insiders’ – Dave Merry, a well-known comedian and golf pro, and Howard Atkinson, president of Golf Ontario. They’ll be sharing details of their visit to Northern Ireland on their various social channels (including on the social channels of Golf Talk Canada).
“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite Golf Talk Canada to come and film in Northern Ireland”, said Dana Welch, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Canada. “The episode will be seen by more than 600,000 Canadians, inspiring them to put a golf vacation in Northern Ireland on their ‘wish list’ for 2020. Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies, in Canada and elsewhere around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films in Northern Ireland.”
In 2018, we welcomed almost 66,000 Canadian visitors to Northern Ireland, up +8% on 2017. Tourism Ireland has an extensive programme of promotions under way right throughout 2019, to build on that success and to encourage more Canadians to consider a holiday in Northern Ireland.
Dana Welch continued: “Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and we are working hard to drive home the message that a golfing holiday in Northern Ireland is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of our world-class courses and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers.”
