~ Popular food and cookery programme films in Galway and Connemara ~
A TV crew from Arte, a Franco-German TV channel, has been filming in Galway city and county, for a popular food and cookery show called Zu Tisch (meaning ‘at the table’) – which has around 250,000 viewers in Germany and around 150,000 viewers in France. They’re here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland.
Zu Tisch is all about regional produce and traditional dishes in different destinations across Europe. The 45-minute segment filmed here will air next summer – showcasing some of our traditional dishes and regional produce, as well as our rich heritage. It will also run online – on ARTE Mediathek, the Arte video on-demand service.
The crew has been capturing footage at various locations – including Clifden, Omey Island, Ballyconneely and Galway city. They stayed at the Dún Rí Guesthouse in Clifden.
“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this TV crew to film in Connemara and Galway this week”, said Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe. “The episode filmed here will be seen by more than 400,000 French and Germans, shining a spotlight on our superb culinary offering and inspiring viewers to put Ireland on their holiday ‘wish list’ and come and ‘Taste the Island’ in 2020.”
Peter Nash continued: “Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies, in Germany, France and elsewhere around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films around the island of Ireland.”
