~ 2.3 million TV viewers in Hong Kong to tune in to Northern Ireland ~

A crew from TVB Travelogue – a popular TV travel channel in Hong Kong – has been filming in Northern Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI. They’re filming here for two different shows: Fun Aboard, which airs to around 2 million viewers and See the World, a new show with around 300,000 viewers, or potential holidaymakers for Northern Ireland.
The TV crew’s action-packed itinerary included filming at Titanic Belfast, HMS Caroline, SS Nomadic, St George’s Market and We are Vertigo in Belfast. They then hit the road to visit someof the iconic sights and attractions along the Causeway Coastal Route.
Aisling McDermott, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Asia, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite the TVB Travelogue crew to film in Northern Ireland this week. The programmes they’re filming here will be seen by around 2.3 million viewers in Hong Kong, inspiring them to put Northern Ireland on their holiday ‘wish list’ for 2020.
“Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies, in China and elsewhere around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films in Northern Ireland and elsewhere around the island of Ireland.”
In 2018, we welcomed an estimated 100,000 Chinese visitors to the island of Ireland. Earlier this year, Tourism Ireland announced its intention to double its marketing investment in China, and to also double its marketing team to 12 – to grow Chinese visitor numbers to 200,000 by 2025.
