German exposure for the Banner County

~ 1.5 million TV viewers in German-speaking countries to tune in to The Burren and Co Clare ~

A crew from Planet TV – a popular German-language TV station – has been filming in Co Clare this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland. They’re filming here for a documentary called Kulturlandschaften Europas (which means the ‘Cultural Landscapes of Europe’), which will air to around 1.5 million German-speaking viewers – in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the South Tyrol region in Northern Italy – in February 2020.
 
The documentary will showcase some of Co Clare’s spectacular scenery, its coastline and towns, as well as its rich culture and heritage. Filming has been taking place at the Burren Food Fayre in Lisdoonvarna, St Tola Irish Goat Cheese Farm, the Aillwee Caves, the Roadside Tavern, the Burren and the Hazel Mountain Chocolate Factory. The crew also had the opportunity to experience – and film – the unique ‘A Wild Food Walk’ in Lahinch, with Wild Kitchen. They stayed in the Lahinch Coast Hotel.
 
“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this TV crew to film in Co Clare this week”, said Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe. “The episode filmed here will be seen by more than 1.5 million German-speaking viewers, or potential holidaymakers for Ireland, shining a spotlight on Co Clare, the Burren and the Wild Atlantic Way, and inspiring those viewers to put Ireland on their holiday ‘wish list’ for 2020.”
 
Peter Nash continued: “Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies, in Germany, and elsewhere around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films around Ireland.”
