Celebrity Chinese band ‘Loves Ireland’

~ Millions of Chinese to see new Tourism Ireland campaign starring Mr. Miss music duo ~

A well-known Chinese jazz and pop duo, called Mr. Miss, is visiting the island of Ireland – to film a series of videos for a new Tourism Ireland campaign.

The campaign – called ‘Love Ireland’ – will feature 20 experiences and activities in lots of different locations around the island of Ireland, to show potential Chinese visitors how to ‘Fill Your Heart With Ireland’. The videos will star Du Kai and Liu Lian – aka Mr. Miss – who’ve become hugely popular in China since appearing on a reality TV music contest.

The videos will go live in December and will be shared with millions of people on Chinese social channels – including Weibo (the popular microblogging site, often described as the Chinese version of Twitter), WeChat (messaging app), TikTok (video sharing app), Red (a platform combining photo-sharing and e-commerce) and Toutiao (news and information platform).

The pair’s action-packed itinerary – designed by Tourism NI and Fáilte Ireland – includes filming at Titanic Belfast, the Giant’s Causeway, Fanad Lighthouse, Sligo and the Yeats Building, Bunratty Castle, the English Market, Waterford and Causey Farm.

David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Middle East, Asia and Emerging Markets, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Mr. Miss on our new ‘Love Ireland’ campaign – as their fanbase is a good fit with our target audience in China. Their videos will be seen by millions of people across China – helping to raise awareness of the island of Ireland, and the wide variety of things to see and do here. They will highlight our rich culture and heritage and help potential Chinese holidaymakers fall in ‘love’ with the island of Ireland – helping to secure a greater share of the 4 million Chinese visitors to Europe each year.”

David Boyce continued: “China is the largest outbound travel market in the world and one that Tourism Ireland is committed to growing over the coming years. In 2018, we welcomed an estimated 100,000 Chinese visitors to the island of Ireland.”
