International journalists discover the magic of the Mournes

~ 430,000+ German, Swedish and Dutch to read all about Co Down and the Mountains of Mourne ~

Top travel and lifestyle journalists from Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden – representing a leading daily newspaper and popular lifestyle magazines – have been visiting Co Down and the spectacular Mourne Mountains, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI. The journalists have a combined audience of more than 430,000 readers.

The group’s action-packed programme was based around the Mournes International Walking Festival, with the journalists taking part in various guided walks during their time here.  They also had the chance to explore the area’s beaches at Keel Point and Murlough Bay and to enjoy some local food and drink.

“Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influential journalists to visit Co Down and the Mourne Mountains, to experience this area at first-hand,” said Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Markets. “Soft adventure, including walking festivals, is an increasingly important element of the visitors experience here and there’s nowhere better to enjoy being outdoors than the Mournes. The articles, photos and posts published by these journalists will be seen and shared by over 430,000 readers – inspiring them to come and sample Northern Ireland for themselves.”

Siobhan McManamy continued: “Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotional activity throughout 2019, to continue to grow tourism numbers to Northern Ireland. Journalists’ visits like this are an invaluable part of our overall promotional programme, helping to get positive exposure for Co Down and Northern Ireland through the media around the world.”
