~ New video starring Sepp Maier highlights Northern Ireland and The Open at Royal Portrush ~
Tourism Ireland in Germany has unveiled a new video – starring legendary German goalkeeper Sepp Maier. Celebrating the fact that The Open is taking place this week at Royal Portrush, the video was created by Tourism Ireland to showcase Northern Ireland and our world-class golf to German holidaymakers.
Tourism Ireland invited Sepp Maier to visit Northern Ireland earlier this year. In the video, viewers will see him playing Royal Portrush and Castlerock, as well as checking out some of our tourist attractions, including Dunluce Castle and Whiterocks Beach.

“We were delighted to collaborate with Sepp Maier on this new video showcasing Northern Ireland,” said Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe. “He’s an enormously popular and recognised figure in Germany, so this video is a great opportunity for us to highlight Northern Ireland and the superb golf here to potential holidaymakers in Germany – and to his many fans everywhere.
“Tourism Ireland is rolling out an extensive programme of promotions in Germany, and elsewhere around the world, to highlight Northern Ireland and The 148th Open at Royal Portrush.”
