Tourism Ireland welcomes latest Lonely Planet accolade for Giant’s Causeway and other Northern Ireland attractions and experiences

Tourism Ireland welcomes the news that Lonely Planet has named the Giant’s Causeway the number three visitor experience in the UK and that 19 other Northern Ireland visitor attractions and experiences feature in the travel giant’s latest ‘hitlist’.
Lonely Planet’s ‘Ultimate UK Travelist’, unveiled today (Tuesday, 13 August), includes its top 500 unmissable experiences and hidden gems across Britain, Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands.
Tourism Ireland’s intends to leverage this accolade for Northern Ireland via its social channels – highlighting the news to its fans and followers across GB, in particular via Facebook and Twitter.

Welcoming the news, Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “The inclusion of 20 Northern Ireland experiences and attractions – including the Giant’s Causeway at number three – in Lonely Planet’s ‘Ultimate UK Travelist’ is good news and will surely help to inspire GB travellers to put Northern Ireland on their holiday wish-list. It is another well-deserved accolade for all of these attractions, which provides Tourism Ireland with a great hook to continue to promote Northern Ireland as a ‘must visit’ destination.”
