~ Popular German travel show films in Ireland ~
Images of Ireland will be seen by more than 900,000 people across Germany later this year. Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland, invited a popular travel programme called Grenzenlos – Die Welt Entdecken
(meaning ‘Without borders – discover the world’) to film here this week.
The crew has been filming in various locations – including in Kinsale with Martin Shanahan of the well-known Fishy Fishy restaurant, at the annual Omey Races in Connemara, as well as in Lisdoonvarna with the famous matchmaker Willie Daly. The resulting programme will air to around 900,000 people on Sat.1 – a major national TV channel – this autumn. It will also be available on the programme’s YouTube channel.
Peter Nash, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite this TV crew to visit Ireland. The programme will be seen by more than 900,000 German travellers later this year – inspiring them to put Ireland on their holiday ‘wish list’ for 2020. Television and film are recognised as strong influencers for prospective holidaymakers and Tourism Ireland regularly works with TV and production companies around the world, to facilitate the making of travel and lifestyle programmes and films around the island of Ireland.”

Germany is the third-largest source of visitors to the island of Ireland and one of the largest outbound travel markets in the world.
Peter Nash continued: “In 2018, we welcomed around 818,000 German arrivals to Ireland. Tourism Ireland has an extensive programme of promotions under way again in 2019, to continue to grow German visitor numbers and, in particular, to encourage more German holidaymakers to explore our regions and less-visited attractions, during the shoulder and off-season months.”
