‘Tee-ing up’ Northern Ireland golf and the ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle

~ 525,000 golfers in GB, the Netherlands and Belgium to read all about our world-class golf ~

Golfers in GB, the Netherlands and Belgium – and potential golf holidaymakers for Northern Ireland – are set to read all about our world-class golf, following a visit by top golf journalists to Northern Ireland.
The journalists – who were here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI – have a combined audience of more than 525,000 readers. They tested their skills in the pro-am at the ISPS Handa World Invitational at Massereene Golf Club and also played at Castlerock, Royal Portrush and Portstewart.
Following the hugely successful staging of The Open at Royal Portrush in July and this week’s ISPS Handa World Invitational, Tourism Ireland is taking every opportunity to remind golfers everywhere why Northern Ireland is a superb choice for a golf holiday.
Siobhan McManamy, Tourism Ireland’s Director of Markets, said: “We were delighted to invite these leading golf journalists to Northern Ireland, to experience the inaugural ISPS Handa World Invitational at Galgorm Castle and play some of our top courses – including Royal Portrush, this year’s venue for The 148th Open. Tourism Ireland has an extensive programme of promotions under way, to highlight our world-class golf and encourage more people to consider a golfing holiday in Northern Ireland.
“Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and we are working hard to drive home the message that a golfing holiday in Northern Ireland is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of our world-class courses and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers.”
Golf journalists Len van Dekken, De Telegraph (the Netherlands); Phillipa Kennedy, Woman & Golf magazine (GB); and Rudy Bauwens, Play Golf (Belgium), at Castlerock Golf Club.
