Popular GB golf magazine checks out Northern Ireland ahead of The Open at Royal Portrush

~ National Club Golfer magazine finds out what’s on offer here for visiting golfers beyond the greens ~

A team from a popular GB golf magazine is in Northern Ireland this week, to find out what makes a holiday here so special. They’re here as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.

National Club Golfer is a free magazine distributed in every golf club across GB, with almost 60,000 copies distributed each month. As well as researching an article about Northern Ireland for the magazine, the team also filmed footage here for the magazine’s website and social channels.

The journalists spent time exploring Belfast, where they took in Titanic Belfast and SS Nomadic. They played Royal Portrush and one of our top parkland courses, Belvoir Park.

Julie Wakely, Tourism Ireland’s Head of Great Britain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite the National Club Golf team to visit Northern Ireland. We are undertaking an extensive programme of promotions in GB, and elsewhere around the world, to highlight Northern Ireland and The 148th Open at Royal Portrush. Golf is the world’s largest sports-related travel market and we are working hard to drive home the message that a golfing holiday in Northern Ireland is about much more than a round of 18 holes – the combination of our world-class courses and our unique brand of hospitality plays a key role in attracting golfers.”

GB is an important market for tourism to Northern Ireland. It delivers 64% of all overseas visitors and around 56% of all overseas tourism revenue.
