Tourism Ireland – in conjunction with Fáilte Ireland – invited representatives of leading German travel agency RTK to visit Ireland, this week.
Their itinerary included a tour of Kilkenny, where they stopped at Kilkenny Castle, St Canice’s Cathedral and the Kilkenny Way. The travel professionals also spent time visiting Wexford and Wicklow, where they explored Dunbrody Famine Ship, Hook Lighthouse, Powerscourt House & Gardens and Glendalough Monastic Site.
Germany is an important market for Ireland – with the latest CSO figures indicating continued growth of almost 19.8% in arrivals from Germany for the January to October period. Therefore, the aim of this action-packed fact-finding visit was to educate and enthuse these travel professionals about all the great things to do and see in Ireland’s Ancient East – so they are better equipped to sell the destination to their clients when they return home.
Zoë Redmond, Tourism Ireland’s Manager for Central Europe, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these German travel professionals to Ireland, to see and experience some of our many visitor attractions. We believe it’s extremely important for travel professionals such as these to experience for themselves the high standard of our tourism experiences and the many things to see and do here.
Zoë Redmond continued: “Our aim is to really enthuse them about the destination, to ensure they are better equipped to advise their clients, when planning and booking their holidays.”
