Valencia is set for lift off!

Spanish travel bloggers check out Northern Ireland on the new easyJet flight from Valencia to Belfast

Three popular influencers from Spain – with a combined audience of over 675,000 followers – have been visiting Northern Ireland this week, as guests of Tourism Ireland and Tourism NI.

The visiting group includes journalist Elena Morales, who broadcasts on Radio Valencia; Victor Rodrigo, who runs a travel blog for families and independent travellers, called Mochileros 2.0; and Veronica Martinez, whose travel and food blog, Vero4travel, is one of the most widely read blogs in Spanish. The aim of the visit is to highlight the new direct flight from Valencia to Belfast to their audiences, as well as some of the many things to see and do here on a holiday.

Barbara Wood, Tourism Ireland’s Manager Spain, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to invite these influencers to Northern Ireland, to experience for themselves some of the many great things to see and do here. Visits like this are an invaluable part of our overall promotional programme, helping to get positive exposure for Northern Ireland through digital media and radio in Spain.”

In 2017, we welcomed more than 46,000 Spanish visitors to Northern Ireland, an increase of +9% on the previous year. As an island, the importance of convenient, direct, non-stop flights cannot be overstated – they are absolutely critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism. This new easyJet flight will help grow both leisure and business travel from Spain to Northern Ireland, making it easier for prospective holidaymakers to get here.


Barbara Woods continued: “We look forward to working with easyJet, to maximise the promotion of, and drive demand for, this new service and to continue to grow Spanish visitor numbers to Northern Ireland.”

The group’s busy itinerary included a tour of Belfast, with visits to the Titanic Quarter, the Ulster Museum and St George’s Market, as well as a trip along the Causeway Coastal Route to experience the Giant’s Causeway, Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge and the Dark Hedges. Their final day saw them arrive in the walled city of Derry, where they enjoyed a walking tour, taking in the Tower Museum, as well as brunch in the City Hotel’s newly opened rooftop garden.
