GB bloggers check out Game of Thrones locations
Popular travel and lifestyle bloggers from GB have been visiting Northern Ireland this week, checking out various filming locations used in Game of Thrones
. The bloggers, whose combined followers and readers number about 1.2 million people, were invited here by Tourism Ireland, in conjunction with Tourism NI.
The bloggers’ action-packed itinerary included an immersive Game of Thrones
tour in Co Down, with visits to Tollymore Forest, Inch Abbey, Castle Ward and Audley’s Castle. They travelled along the Causeway Coastal Route, stopping off at various filming locations like the harbour at Carnlough, Cushendun caves, Ballintoy and the Dark Hedges. The bloggers also spent time in Londonderry, where they enjoyed a walking tour and a visit to the Walled City Brewery.
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “We are delighted to have the opportunity to highlight our Game of Thrones connection to fans of the show and prospective visitors around the world, through these influential bloggers. Their blogs and social media accounts are extremely popular, so their visit is a really good opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland to a wide audience of prospective holidaymakers. Their posts and photos will be seen and shared by their online followers – inspiring them to come and explore the destination for themselves.
“Tourism Ireland undertakes a busy publicity programme around the world each year to raise the profile of Northern Ireland – and visits by journalists and social influencers like bloggers and vloggers are a key element of that programme. Tourism Ireland continues to promote our iconic experiences, including the Causeway Coastal Route, Titanic Belfast, the Giant’s Causeway, our unique National Trust properties and, of course, our world-class golf.”
