Promoting Cork and the Wild Atlantic Way in Britain

5.5 million Britons to see new Tourism Ireland campaign with Ryanair and Cork Airport

Tourism Ireland has teamed up with Ryanair and Cork Airport, to promote flights to Cork from London (Stansted) and Liverpool and to grow tourist numbers to the South of Ireland this summer. The campaign will promote Cork city and county and will highlight Cork Airport as an important gateway to the Wild Atlantic Way.

Working closely with airlines and airports to build demand for flights is a key priority for Tourism Ireland and this campaign will reach about 5.5 million people across Britain. Kicking off today (24 April), it will run until mid-May and will include ads on Radio City (a local station in Liverpool), as well as online ads on popular websites, targeting people living in and around Liverpool and Stansted airports.

Julie Wakley, Tourism Ireland’s Deputy Head of Great Britain, said: “We are delighted to partner with Ryanair and Cork Airport, to highlight great value fares on flights from Stansted and Liverpool and to help grow tourist numbers to the South of Ireland this summer. As an island, the importance of convenient, direct, non-stop flights cannot be overstated – they are absolutely critical to achieving growth in inbound tourism.

“Great Britain is an important market for tourism to the island of Ireland and Tourism Ireland is undertaking an extensive programme of promotions throughout 2017, to highlight Ireland to British travellers. We continue to monitor developments around Brexit closely, to better understand and plan for its implications on travel. Competitiveness and value for money are more important than ever this year, given currency fluctuations and the decline in the value of sterling. Throughout 2017, Tourism Ireland will continue to work with our key partners, like Ryanair and Cork Airport, to highlight the ease of getting to Ireland.”
