Portstewart is ‘cover star’ on top US golf magazine

220,000 Americans read all about our world-class golf

The Strand Course at Portstewart appears on the cover of the latest edition of a leading American golf magazine, called LINKS.

LINKS is an extremely popular publication, with about 220,000 readers. Tourism Ireland in New York invited journalist Tom Coyne, from the magazine, to visit last May. The resulting article features stunning photography – including the cover shot of Portstewart and a great photo of the fourth hole at Ardglass. It describes our “extraordinary hospitality and golf of the purest and most dramatic variety”. A sample itinerary suggests playing Ardglass, Castlerock, Portstewart, Ballyliffin, Royal Portrush and Royal County Down.

Promoting golf in Northern Ireland is a major focus for Tourism Ireland, in the United States and in other important golf markets around the world.

Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s Head of North America, said: “We are really pleased with the excellent coverage in the fall edition of LINKS magazine. It’s a really good way of showcasing Northern Ireland to a large audience of American golfers – and potential visitors for Northern Ireland. Publicity is an important element of Tourism Ireland’s overall promotional programme, helping to raise awareness through the US media of the many things to see and do on a holiday in Northern Ireland, including our world-class golf.

“Over the coming months, Tourism Ireland will be taking every opportunity to highlight the 2017 Irish Open at Portstewart, which provides a fantastic platform to put golf in Northern Ireland in the global spotlight once again, showcasing what we have to offer to golfers in the US and elsewhere around the world.”
