En Garde! Ireland's Ancient East is launched in Paris

Tourism Ireland launches Ireland’s Ancient East to influential French travel professionals

Ireland’s Ancient East was launched in Paris by Tourism Ireland this week. Our newest tourism experience was unveiled to French travel professionals attending this year’s IFTM Top Resa. IFTM (International French Travel Market) is the largest travel trade exhibition in France, attracting almost 30,000 visitors each year including influential tour operators and travel agents, as well as business tourism decision-makers and leading French travel media.

Ten Irish tourism enterprises have joined Tourism Ireland at IFTM (International French Travel Market). The four-day event provides a wonderful platform for them to meet with, and sell directly to, the influential French travel trade.  It was also an excellent opportunity for Tourism Ireland to launch Ireland’s Ancient East – or ‘Les terres ancestrales d’Irlande’ – to the travel agents and tour operators attending the show.

Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland’s manager Southern Europe, said: “IFTM was a wonderful opportunity for us to unveil Ireland’s Ancient East to our top travel trade contacts here in France. We believe this exciting new tourism experience has great potential among French travellers, particularly for our ‘culturally curious’ audience.

“France is one of the top four markets for tourism to Ireland and we have seen really good growth in French visitors numbers again this year, with this week’s CSO figures showing an increase of +4% for June to August. We are determined to ensure that tourism growth continues. We have a really extensive autumn campaign in full swing right now – aimed at boosting late-season travel to Ireland from France and elsewhere around the globe.” Mark Henry, Tourism Ireland; actor Mick Langan; and Monica MacLaverty, Tourism Ireland, at the launch of Ireland’s Ancient East at IFTM Top Resa in Paris.
