Mission Scandinavia – tourism operators ‘hit the road’ in Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm

A delegation of 17 Irish tourism enterprises will join Tourism Ireland this week for the biennial COS roadshow – a three-city trade mission taking in the Scandinavian capitals of Copenhagen, Oslo and Stockholm.

The trade mission – which involves a series of B2B workshops and networking with influential Scandinavian tour operators and travel agents – provides an excellent platform to showcase Ireland and for the participating Irish tourism companies to sell their product. Over the course of the three-day mission, face-to-face meetings will be conducted with about 150 key Scandinavian decision-makers – to encourage them to introduce the island of Ireland to their programmes for 2014, or to extend the programmes in which Ireland already features. It is also an excellent opportunity for Tourism Ireland to highlight the Wild Atlantic Way to the travel agents and tour operators attending the workshops.

Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s manager for the Nordic region, said: “We are delighted these influential Scandinavian tour operators and travel agents have taken the time out of their busy schedules to join us at our workshops, to hear what the island of Ireland has to offer for their clients. This type of promotion, where we talk directly to members of the travel trade, provides us with an excellent platform to spread the word about the many great things to see and do on holiday in Ireland. It’s also a wonderful opportunity for us to highlight the Wild Atlantic Way, as well as the extensive programme of events happening around Ireland during 2014, to our top travel trade contacts here in the Nordic region.

“Working with our tourism partners, we will continue to promote Ireland as the ideal destination for Scandinavian holidaymakers this year, the great value available on the ground, as well as ease of access from the Nordic region. Our message for Scandinavian holidaymakers is that there has never been a better time to visit.''
