Northern Ireland provides backdrop for top Canadian fashion magazine

500,000+ Canadians to see stunning images of Northern Ireland

More than half a million Canadians will see stunning images of Northern Ireland later this year in Chatelaine – the number one lifestyle magazine in Canada.

Invited to Northern Ireland by Tourism Ireland in Toronto, the magazine crew, including two models, undertook two different fashion photo-shoots during their time here. The resulting two, eight-page fashion stories will appear in the autumn and winter 2014 editions of the popular magazine, which has a circulation of almost 540,000 readers. One story will feature locations along the Causeway Coast, including the Giant’s Causeway, the Carrick-a-rede Rope Bridge, Mussenden Temple and Dunluce Castle. The other eight-page spread will feature the grounds and gardens of Glenarm Castle. The itinerary for the Chatelaine team was devised by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board.

Chatelaine will also showcase the visit in the magazine’s travel pages, highlighting some of the many things to do and see in Northern Ireland. In addition, an online, behind-the-scenes video will be shared and published on the magazine’s online and social platforms, which attract almost two million visitors each month, including some 40,000 followers on Facebook, Pinterest and Twitter.

Jayne Shackleford, Tourism Ireland’s manager for Canada, said: “We are delighted that Chatelaine, the top glossy magazine in Canada, chose Northern Ireland as the location for not just one, but two, fashion shoots. With a circulation of almost 540,000 – and many more readers online – this is a tremendous opportunity to showcase Northern Ireland. Both articles will highlight our beautiful scenery and our wonderful castles and gardens – encouraging Canadian holidaymakers to come and experience the destination for themselves.”

Tourism Ireland undertakes a busy publicity programme around the world each year to raise the profile of Northern Ireland – and media visits are a key element of that programme.
