Ireland was in the spotlight in Amsterdam recently, when 16 tourism enterprises from around the island of Ireland joined Tourism Ireland for a B2B tourism workshop.
Attended by 40 of the top Dutch tour operators and online travel agents, it was an excellent platform for the participating Irish tourism companies to network and do business with the Dutch travel professionals. The event took place in the Amsterdam ArenA and was the second workshop of its kind organised by Tourism Ireland in the Netherlands over the past year.
Aileen Hickey, Tourism Ireland’s manager for the Netherlands, said: “This type of event provides us with an excellent opportunity to build awareness among influential Dutch tour operators and online travel agents about the many great things to see and do on a holiday on the island of Ireland and to encourage them to include the destination in their future travel programmes. The event was also an excellent opportunity for Tourism Ireland to introduce the ‘Wild Atlantic Way’ to the Dutch travel trade – Ireland’s first long-distance touring route stretching all the way from Donegal to Cork.”
According to the latest CSO figures, Ireland experienced growth of +12% from the Benelux countries for the three-month period of May to July, when compared to the same period in 2012.
