As part of its push to grow conference and business tourism from Great Britain and elsewhere around the world, Tourism Ireland, together with six partners from around the island of Ireland attended the Venues & Events exhibition in Old Billingsgate in the heart of the City of London, targeting senior representatives of companies involved in organising large-scale international conferences and events.
Venues & Events is a two-day B2B event, which attracts about 7,500 event professionals and decision-makers working in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and events) sector. David Boyce, Tourism Ireland’s head of business and sports tourism, said: “Venues & Events provides us with a very useful platform to spread the word about the superb facilities available right around the island of Ireland and to highlight what makes Ireland unique as a business and incentive travel destination, among key decision-makers working in that sector in Great Britain.”
Business tourism is the most lucrative form of tourism, with visitors travelling here for business purposes spending about 2.5 times more than the average visitor. Tourism Ireland’s promotional programme to grow business tourism from Great Britain this year includes highlighting the superb meetings, incentive and transport infrastructure on offer here, the ease of access to the island of Ireland from GB, as well as the good value rates available.
