Belfast was in the spotlight in Washington DC, at a special showcase event hosted by the Lord Mayor of Belfast, Máirtín Ó Muilleoir, and Visit Belfast. The event, titled ‘Belfast in a new Light’, was supported by Tourism Ireland and attended by people working in the important business tourism and association conference sector from in and around Washington DC.
Alison Metcalfe, Tourism Ireland’s head of North America, said: “Tourism Ireland was delighted to support this business tourism event in Washington, together with Belfast’s Lord Mayor and Visit Belfast. Networking events like this help us to build strong relationships with key business tourism contacts – keeping Belfast and Northern Ireland ‘top of mind’ for them when they are selecting destinations for their international conferences, meetings and incentive travel.
“We will continue to focus on business tourism in the United States, highlighting the excellent facilities in Belfast and Northern Ireland, as well as the music, arts and culture which are an integral part of the experience for delegates on the fringes of their business travel. Business tourism is an extremely important, high yield sector which can deliver significant economic benefits and Tourism Ireland is working hard to promote Belfast and Northern Ireland as a premier destination for meetings, conferences and events.”
