Malmaison Hotel in Belfast was the venue for the May board meeting of Tourism Ireland. The board members took the opportunity to meet with local tourism operators prior to the meeting, to discuss the 2013 season and the extensive promotional programme which Tourism Ireland has in place to highlight Northern Ireland around the world this year.
Speaking after the event, Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “We were delighted to be in Belfast for this month’s board meeting and to have the chance to meet with representatives of the tourism industry here and to hear directly how business is shaping up for this year.
“It also afforded us the opportunity to discuss the extensive promotional programme which Tourism Ireland is undertaking this year across the globe. Building on the positive legacy of ni2012, Tourism Ireland is using major events like the forthcoming World Police and Fire Games, the G8 Summit in Fermanagh and the superb, ongoing programme for Derry~Londonderry UK City of Culture 2013 to continue to place Northern Ireland in the international spotlight for all the right reasons and as a ‘must-see’ holiday destination.”
