Targeting the growing number of Americans interested in visiting gardens, Tourism Ireland – together with various tourism and garden partners from around Ireland – mounted a strong presence at this year’s Philadelphia International Flower Show. The world’s largest indoor flower and horticultural exhibition, the Philadelphia International Flower Show attracts about 260,000 visitors each year – providing an invaluable opportunity to spread the word about the wonderful gardens in Ireland to a large audience of potential US holidaymakers.
Tourism Ireland in North America will have a strong presence at a wide range of travel, lifestyle and special interest fairs throughout 2013. Commenting on the busy promotional programme now in full swing in key American cities and gateway areas, Joe Byrne, Tourism Ireland’s Executive Vice President United States and Canada, said: “The United States continues to be one of the most important markets for tourism to the island of Ireland. American visitors stay longer, spend more than the average visitor and tour more extensively around the island. 2012 was one of the strongest years for visitors from the US to Ireland and Tourism Ireland is aiming to make 2013 our best year ever! Given that the Philadelphia Flower Show is such a popular event, it is a really effective platform for Tourism Ireland to highlight the wide range of things to see and do in Ireland for culture seekers and garden lovers.
