Tourism Ireland board meets in Killarney

The Malton Hotel in Killarney was the venue for the board meeting of Tourism Ireland today. The board members took the opportunity to meet with local tourism operators prior to the meeting, to discuss the 2013 season and the extensive promotional programme which Tourism Ireland has in place to highlight the South West and Ireland around the world this year.

Speaking after the event, Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “We were delighted to be in Killarney for this month’s board meeting and to have the chance to meet with representatives of the tourism industry from the South West and to hear directly how business is shaping up for this year.

“It also afforded us the opportunity to discuss the extensive promotional programme which Tourism Ireland is undertaking this year across the globe. We have a major focus on The Gathering, which is a fantastic ‘hook’ for us to highlight Ireland. We are extending an invitation to the millions of people everywhere who have ancestral links with Ireland to ‘come home’ this year; our message is that there has never been a better year to visit.”
