Tourism Minister Arlene Foster visited the Coleraine office of Tourism Ireland today, meeting staff and learning about how the office supports Tourism Ireland’s marketing activity around the world. During her visit, the Minister thanked local staff for their important contribution to the drive to promote Northern Ireland as a tourism destination overseas.
Minister Foster said: “Tourism is a major driver of economic growth because it is an industry that benefits every community across Northern Ireland and helps sustain vital jobs. Northern Ireland has such a great story to tell, particularly in light of the hugely successful G8 summit, the World Police & Fire Games and the year-long programme of events in Londonderry, the first ever UK City of Culture.
"It was a pleasure to meet the Coleraine team and I know they will continue to play a vital role in marketing Northern Ireland on the international stage.”
Niall Gibbons, CEO of Tourism Ireland, said: “We were delighted to welcome Minister Foster to our Coleraine office, to see at first-hand how the staff here supports Tourism Ireland’s global marketing activities around the world, and in particular in the cutting edge fields of digital marketing. We also updated the Minister on the extensive promotional programme under way for Northern Ireland across the globe.”
