Lord Mayor welcomes 100+ vintage car enthusiasts to Ireland
A British vintage car enthusiasts club – the Bentley Drivers Club – arrived in Ireland over the weekend, to enjoy a week-long, deluxe touring holiday. They were welcomed to Ireland by the Lord Mayor of Dublin, Oisín Quinn, and by Tourism Ireland’s Simon Gregory.
Over the coming seven days, they will travel from east to west and back again, incorporating some of our tourism ‘hotspots’ including elements of the ‘Grand Tour’ of Kildare and Wicklow. Supported by Tourism Ireland in Great Britain, there are over 100 vintage car enthusiasts and Bentley owners undertaking this touring holiday of Ireland in 46 vintage Bentleys.
Tourism Ireland is actively promoting car touring and longer-stay holidays in Great Britain. Simon Gregory, Tourism Ireland’s director of markets, said: “We are delighted to welcome the Bentley Drivers Club to Ireland and we wish them a really successful and enjoyable “Grand Tour”, which will be a really great way for them to discover Ireland. Given that car touring visitors tend to stay longer, spend more and are more likely to visit more than one region, Tourism Ireland is actively promoting car touring and longer-stay holidays in GB.”
